Alvis Eugene “Al” Campbell, 79, of Asheville, NC passed away March 19, 2024.
He was born in Guilford County, NC to the late James Dolphin Campbell and Matilda Fairine White Key.
Al graduated Allen Jay School, Guilford College, and Duke University. He was known for his integrity, very dry wit, generosity, and patience. His constantly reliable guidance and quite wisdom allowed people who worked with him to learn from him. His career at Hansel Post, Brandon and Dorsey was long and distinguished. He was widely known as one of the premiere commercial real estate attorneys in
Atlanta.
After retirement in 2000 from Jones Day, He joined Portman Holdings as senior business advisor giving invaluable advice to John Portman Jr. and his family.
Surviving Al is his loving wife of 35 years, Elizabeth Lanier Campbell; son, John Dixon Campbell (Makenzie Hancock) of Brooklyn, New York; and two brothers, David Campbell (Linda) and Kenneth Campbell of High Point, NC.
