Sarah Katherine Chason

Sarah “Kate” Katherine Chason, 84, of Asheville died Friday, December 6, 2013. A native of Cincinnati, OH, she was preceded in death by her late husband John C. Rowland. She was an active volunteer at Asheville-Buncombe Community Christian Ministry (ABCCM). She is survived by her loving spouse of 22 years, Robert L. Chason; son, Stephen M. Rowland of Miami, FL; daughters, Sarah K. Rowland (Olov Fast) of Stockholm, Sweden, Amy Rowland of Littleton, Co, and Alice R. Brown (Charles) of South Wales, N.Y.; brothers, Dr. Theodore Safford of Duxbury, MA and Rufus Safford (Judith) of Silver City, NM; step-children Pat Crouch and Carol Chason , 5 grandchildren and 5 step-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 11 AM, Monday, December 9, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Chunns Cove Rd of which she was a member. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial gifts be made to ABCCM, 30 Cumberland Ave., Asheville, NC 28801 or St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 219 Chunns Cove Rd, Asheville NC 28805.
