Robert Brett Miller

September 27, 1954 ~ December 17, 2017 (age 63) 63 Years Old

Robert Brett Miller of Hendersonville, NC, passed away on December 17, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. “Rob” as he went by, or “Bob” as many family members called him, was born in Punta Gorda, Florida in 1954 to James Edgar Miller, and Eva Burdette Miller.  Rob graduated from Charlotte High School in Punta Gorda and then moved with his parents to the Florida Keys where they retired. Rob met the love of his life, Catherine Leopold (Miller) while their families lived on the same street.

After graduation, Rob joined the US Army, where he served in the 82nd Airborne, stationed at Fort Bragg. He obtained the status of Jump Master after completing numerous jumps.  Rob and Cathy moved to Gainesville where he attended the University of Florida, graduating with a degree in Building Construction. Rob enjoyed a long career in sales of engineered wood products with Weyerhaeuser.  After semi-retiring, he worked for Lowe’s Pro-Services.  Rob was known as a fixer of anything and everything. He loved working on projects around the house and on his many cars.  He enjoyed hiking, camping and being outside, especially the mountains.  Rob loved SEC Football, always cheering for his Florida Gators. He enjoyed taking the backroads, spending time with his family, exploring new towns, and studying history.

Rob is preceded in death by his Parents James and Eva, brother Jimmy Miller, and sister Dorothy Smith.  Rob will be lovingly remembered by his wife of forty-two years, Catherine Miller, and his children, Corina Miller Fletcher, son-in law Jamey Fletcher, Colin Miller, Colleen Miller Carter, son-in-law Scott Carter, and Cody Miller.  Rob will also be forever remembered by his three grandchildren, Abby, Sydney, and Cole Fletcher, his Brother and sister-in-law Jon and Roseanna Miller,  Sister Susan Harris, and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Rob’s generous spirit, strong love for his family, and courage touched many, and he will be immensely missed.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Blue Ridge Humane Society, 14 Towne Place Drive, #130 Hendersonville, NC 28792. A service to celebrate and honor Rob’s life is tentatively scheduled for January 20th in Hendersonville, NC.
