Nancy Merrell Conolly

Nancy Merrell Conolly, 84 went home to be with the Lord on Sunday,
February 12, 2017 at the Elizabeth House.  She was the daughter of
the late Ethel Lucille Maynard and Powell Ray Merrell.  She was also
preceded in death by her husband Nelson Alfred Conolly and her
sister Phyllis Virginia Pearson Hart.

Nancy was born and raised in Miami, FL. and graduated from Miami
Edison Senior High, Class of 1950.  She began her working days as an
elevator girl in the Ingraham Building in downtown Miami.  She was also
a sales associate/cashier at Paul’s Drug Store on 7th Avenue and 
finished her career with Commercial Bank and Trust Company.  She
retired as a Bank Officer in December 1996.  After retirement she
moved to North Carolina to be closer to her family.

Nancy AKA “Big Nancy” will be remembered for her wonderful
smile, her gracious and loving attitude and her desire to help others.
She loved making crafts and many have received her beautiful
creations.  You could never pass by her without her wanting a “hug”.  She
was a member of Mills River UMC, active choir member, attended
Sunday School and MRLEC, which she especially enjoyed.

She is survived by her children Steve Conolly and wife Precila
and Suzanne Ellis and husband Eddie.  Grandchildren
Karl Conolly, Amanda Sebesta, Daniel Conolly, Matthew Ellis,
Christopher Ellis, Ian Codilla, Sarah Dye and Vanessa Bunag and
spouses.  Also sister-in-law Grace Conolly and Aunt Myrtle Quinn
along with nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017
at Mills River UMC - 137 Old Turnpike Road, Mills River.  Visitation
at 10:00AM, Service at 11:30AM and reception following.  Service
will be officiated by the Rev. Ashley Crowder-Stanley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the National Parkinson
Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street - Suite 800, Miami, FL  3313 or the
Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue - Fl 17, Chicago,
IL  60601.
