Katie "Toots" King Mills Hooper

Katie "Toots" King Mills Hooper of Sandy Mush, N.C. at the age of 82 went to be with our Lord on January 31, 2017. She is survived by one brother Ray King of Baltimore, Maryland. Her children Calvin Mills Jr. also of Sandy Mush, N.C. and Patricia Mills of Mocksville N.C. 3 granddaughters; Laura Mills, Sarah Hall and Haley Jacobson also of Mocksville N.C. and 4 great grandchildren Lafaith Hall, Maximus Hall, Joseph Mills and Eternity Hall as well as numerous niece's & nephews.
She was 1 of 11 children born at home in Sandy Mush to the late Lottie Ward King and Hansel King on June 19, 1934. She graduated in 1955 from Leicester High School. She married Calvin Mills Sr. of Waynesville, NC in 1964 he preceded her in death in 1976. She was married in Mocksville N.C. to Crawford Hooper of Blue Field, WV. in 1980 he preceded her in death in 1986. She resided at Emerald Ridge Rehabilitation from 2007 until her passing. 
She is remembered by her Family & Friends as a hard working woman, a beloved mother. She always had a beautiful smile & loved to joke around. She offered words of kindness & encoragement to everyone she met. She enjoyed walking, gardening & spending time with family & friends. She had a wonderful voice and loved singing old hymns, she was frequently asked to sing at the church she was involved in. She will be greatly missed by all.
Services will be held on Saturday February 4th at Paynes Chapel in Sandy Mush at 1:00 p.m.
