John David Teague died Monday, June 26, 2017. He was a native of Ellenboro, NC. John was the son of the late Mac Leroy Teague and Elsie Clubb Teague. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Hearne Teague and brothers, Howard Teague and Herman Teague and step daughter, Shannon Erwin. John is survived by his wife of 28 years, Nola Hunter Teague, daughter, Lori Teague (Blair), stepson Wayne Erwin (Vicki), stepson Jason Erwin. Grandchildren, Katie Collins, Jada Erwin, Javin Favichia and 2 great-grandchildren, Aaliyah and Sam.
John was very proud to have served on the USS Enterprise. He served in Vietnam and traveled the world during his time in the Navy.
He always said he had been to places and seen things that many never were able to. He had more than one career and sometimes more than one at a time.
He was a sailor, a barber, painted homes and hung wallpaper and he served as a magistrate for the state of North Carolina In Durham and Buncombe County.
He also worked as a store manager, commissary officer, and in a friend’s tobacco and cigar shop. And more.
But the most important thing to him was family. He and his first wife had a daughter. His wife died and he was determined that his child have the best life he could give her. When we met he suddenly had four children. And we all became a solid family unit. He always wanted the best for all of us.  Our family has been full of love and so much of that came from John. We were a strong family unit from the beginning. This included my parents and extended family, as well as his, and also his first wife's family. This has been a continuing blessing for us. John laughed and loved life and family and friends more than anyone I have known. God has seen us through many difficulties and many achievements. God will continue taking care of us.
Arrangements for a celebration of his life will be announced at a later date. Please make any donations to the American Cancer Society, Asheville, NC
