Hubert Daniel Greene

Hubert Daniel Greene, 89, of Asheville passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018 at CarePartners John F. Keever Jr, Solace Center in Asheville. Born on December 10, 1928 in Madison County, he was the son of the late Edgar and Nettie Greene. In 1952 he received a B.S. in Agriculture from Berry College in Rome, GA, and then enlisted in the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. After his time in the Army, he went to work for Akers Motor Lines and later retired from ABF Freight Systems as a road driver. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, French Broad Masonic Lodge 292, and a retired member of Teamsters Local 61. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wives, Peggy Thomas Greene and Roberta Bowman Greene; grandson, Nolan Thomas Sizemore Greene, and an infant brother. Surviving are his children, Kevin Greene of Marshall, and Michael Greene and his spouse, Mirlie, of Alexander; grandchildren, Katy Meadows and her spouse, Tommy, of Alexander, and Andrew Greene of Asheville; great-grandson, Tanner and traveling partner and loving companion, Joan Bernstein; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 Am on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Asheville with the family receiving guest an hour prior. Dr. Ronnie Owen and Rev. Steve Greene will be officiating. A private interment will be held at Green Hills Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Mt. Carmel Building Fund, 200 Mt. Carmel Road, Asheville, NC 28806.
