Beyond saddened to hear of Gilbert's passing. I worked with him for years and I lit up each time I knew I was going to travel to see him. He was gentle, conscientious and caring. He taught me more on how to treat people than most and his love for his wife and family was evident in everything he did.
Rest in peace Gil. You are missed but will always be remembered by what you passed on to each of us as life lessons!

I have a fond memory of Gil from back when he was the Meat Buyer and I was the Purchasing Director at Earth Fare. We were attending the Kickapoo Days celebration with Organic Valley, and one of the activities was a canoe trip down the mighty Kickapoo River. It was more like a kiddie ride than a river, but we paddled along in our canoe, drinking beer and having fun. We eventually got to laughing so hard that the canoe tipped over. We were thoroughly soaked, but had a great time. He was a good friend, and I will miss him.

I don't have the words for this at all. I'm still bowled over from your phone call. Gilbert was a friend of my heart; not just an aquatience I liked, or forgot about between visits (even though few and far between), but a man who lived, large and kind, in my heart. I love you both so very much and, though I'll miss the giant smile and beautiful soul that Gilbert was on this earth, I know that he left more love and laughter than most folks even glimpse in 53 years.

Dear Peggy,
Dan and I are so sorry about Gil, time goes by so fast and I wish we could have gotten together like we always wanted. Dan said he will miss Gil coming into the store, always happy and they would sit and talk for awhile. There are really no words to say except we are thinking about you and your family. Always remember that we have great big arms that are long and ready to give hugs to you anytime you need them. Love you to my friend.
