Deborah Nicholson Ginn

Deborah Nicholson Ginn, 65, of Sylva, died March 12, 2017, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born March 3, 1952, she was a daughter of the late James Neil Nicholson and the late Louetta Huffman Nicholson of Sylva. A 1970 graduate of Sylva-Webster High School, she earned a bachelor’s degree in music and sociology and graduated magna cum laude from Western Carolina University in 1973. An accomplished pianist, she served as the organist for the First United Methodist Church of Sylva for more than 20 years. Debbie gave the best smiles and the deadliest toe pinches, and was queen of the Oreo dessert. She was that special breed of single mothers who put in long hours at work, and yet still volunteered for her children’s school activities. Surviving are her beloved and devoted husband of almost 25 years, David S. Ginn; two daughters, Shannon Williamson Gallo of Virginia Beach, Va., and Blakely Williamson of Chapel Hill; one sister, Terri Nicholson Bell Morgan of Maggie Valley; one niece, Lindsay Bell of Greensboro, NC; and one nephew, Luke Bell of Las Vegas, NV.
