Dawn Penland

Dawn Penland, age 58, of Candler, NC passed away on June 7, 2017 after a five month battle with brain cancer.  Dawn was born in Key West Florida and as a “Navy Brat” she lived in various places around the world before settling in Candler in the 1970’s
 
Dawn was preceded in death by her father, James F. Bishop and Grandparents Clifford and Catherine Austin.  She is survived by her husband Charles Penland; daughter, Jennifer Billings, her husband Denny, and their daughters: Mia, Hailie, Morgan and Madilane, daughter Samantha Williams, her husband Daniel and their daughters: Cheyenne, Charity and Candace; step daughter Julie Reynolds (Chris) and her son, Alex as well as step daughter Yvonne Ferguson (Russell) and their children Haley and Kaden.  Also surviving is her mother Beverly Austin of Candler, NC, step mother, Sara Bishop of Asheville, NC and brothers Jim Bishop (Tisa) of Dallas, TX and brother David Bishop (Melissa) of Canton, NC as well as an aunt, nieces, and several cousins.
 
Dawn was full of life and loved by many.  She always had a smile on her face and a cheerful word for everyone she met.  Dawn loved going to the beach and spending time with her daughters and grandchildren.  Her loving nature gained her many friends during her short time on earth and her family was blessed to learn of the many lives she had touched.  

Services will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017 at Cedar Mountain Baptist Church 27 Reeds Creek Road Fairview, NC 28730.  The memorial service will begin at 6:00PM and the family 
will receive friends afterwards beginning at approximately 7:00PM.  Please feel free to wear bright colors, beach attire optional.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Care Partners Foundation, Hospice Fund.
