Daniel James Usry

Daniel James “Danny” Usry, 58, passed away Monday, June 19, 2017 at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville, NC.

Daniel served in the US Coast Guard and later became a Charter Boat Captain and Supply Boat Captain on the Gulf of Mexico. He loved his family and was so proud of Drew and Maria. Daniel always enjoyed the outdoors and fishing was a passion. In recent years, he found peace in the music and mountains of Asheville, NC, with his friend and partner Vicky Shelton. 

Daniel is preceded in death by his father, Dan Crews Usry and son, Benjamin Osborne.

Surviving Daniel is his mother, Nancy Elsie Sutton Fisher of Mathews, VA; son, Drew Phillips Usry of San Diego, CA; daughter, Maria Sutton Usry Phares of Midlothian, VA; brothers: Forest Sutton Usry of Hampton, VA and Jonathan Todd Usry of Littleton, CO; step father, John Robert Fisher of Mathews, VA; sister-in-law, Terry Lawler Usry of Littleton, CO, aunts, Brenda Duncan of Richmond, VA, Anne Anthony of Nags Head, NC; uncle Nelson Sutton of Bulls Gap, TN; nieces and nephews: August and Mary Usry of Littleton, CO, Kristen Barr and Ali Usry of Dallas, TX.

A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held on July 19, 2017 from 4 - 6 pm at The Mathews Yacht Club in Mathews, Virginia.  

Donations can be made to Maymont Park, Richmond VA in memory of Danny's beloved son, Ben Osborne.
