Hendersonville/North Carolina – Chapin Brewer Weed - Born October 7, 1925 in Coral Gables, Florida and died November 13, 2011 under the care of Four Seasons Hospice in The Elizabeth House, Flat Rock, North Carolina. His wife of forty-four years Rose Yungman Weed, of Pine Island, New York, pre-deceased him. He served his country in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a decorated war veteran of the Army Air Corps Division reaching the grade of Staff Sergeant and serving as Flight Engineer/Gunner. On two occasions he saved crew and B17 aircrafts by flying the damaged planes back to base when both pilot and co-pilot were killed. He attended the Rectory School and Kent School in Connecticut, and Williams College. In civilian life his business interests were largely focused in the Northeast with the food chain Grand Union. With a passion for driving and travel, Chapin visited every state in the nation and cruised all corners of the globe. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Ann Taylor and her husband Mark Taylor of Dallas, Texas and his son, Peter Chapin Weed and his wife Jana Elayne Weed of Fletcher, North Carolina, grandson Jason Brewer Weed and his wife Michelle Olsen Weed, of Charleston, South Carolina and their daughter and Chapin’s great-granddaughter Leah Marie Weed. The family expresses gratitude for the loving care from the staff at the Four Seasons Hospice at The Elizabeth House, Flat Rock.
